Active substances

Ceramides : Over fifty percent of the skin barrier is made up of ceramides. The skin’s natural ceramides can be depleted in both quantity and quality due to harsh environmental conditions. Ceramide-based skincare can help restore the skin barrier in these cases. Ceramides work exceptionally well in combination with other skin-restoring and moisturizing ingredients, such as glycerin, panthenol, ectoine, polyglutamic acid, squalene, and niacinamide. Our Bellflower Barrier Cream contains 1% panthenol. Panthenol, or provitamin B5, attracts and retains water on the skin’s surface. It also soothes irritated and damaged skin. With its moisturizing and soothing properties, regular use can improve skin texture and elasticity.

Polyglutamic acid (PGA) is a peptide found in foods made from naturally fermented soybeans. It is a great humectant, capable of holding up to 5,000 times its weight in water. Its deep moisturizing properties help maintain the skin’s water balance, thereby strengthening the skin barrier.

Ectoine is an amino acid naturally produced by microorganisms to protect cells in extreme environments such as deserts, salt lakes and hot springs. Its strong water-binding properties are beneficial in hydrating the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, making it ideal for sensitive and irritated skin.
